Meet one of our volunteers, Esther! Esther first became passionate about helping returning citizens when she heard the frustrations of someone in her community who could not vote due to his criminal record. She helps us by corresponding with our members on the inside and organizing backpack drives. She is passionate about bringing more awareness to our mission. Thank you, Esther!

Since we moved to our new office we’ve seen a large increase in individuals stopping in to receive services finding employment, housing, connection to community resources and general reentry support. Our new space allows for more private meetings and we have increased space for our resource closet and computer area. Stop in and say hello at 804 S. Capitol St. in Iowa City if you are in the area. Thanks to AlphaGraphics North Liberty for the new sign!
Reentry support is much more than just finding employment, it’s also getting together socially to experience our community. Inside Out’s Social Activities Committee and members attended a live music event in June at Riverfront Crossing Park. We enjoyed listening to music, playing bags, and taking in the nice weather. Please share any events we should check out next!
Money Moves with Veridian Credit Union: In August, we partnered with Veridian Credit Union to offer the Money Moves program. Finding financial stability after incarceration can be challenging, and programs like this help individuals meet their financial goals, and work towards their future.“I am thankful for Inside Out.
