  • September is National Recovery Month. Recovering from substance use and addiction is a goal for many as they reenter their communities after incarceration. We acknowledge that recovery can be incredibly challenging. However, we know that building social networks and connections can make the journey a bit less intimidating. That is why we offer a weekly recovery based, peer-led support group.
Our Coffee and Connections Group was inspired by a Ted Talk by Johann Hari, who believes that the opposite of addiction is not sobriety, but rather connection. Serving as a safe space where we openly discuss our success, challenges, and offer our support for others.
Join us every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 to see the power that connection holds. Need a ride? Call (319) 338-7996!

  • As individuals reenter the community after incarceration, many find difficulties securing reliable transportation. Between limiting financial situations, license restrictions, and other unique factors, public transportation can quickly become the only option for those beginning their reentry journey. Navigating reentry can be challenging- as pressure grows to find employment, housing, and healthcare. Adequate transportation is a necessity for securing these milestones.
At Inside Out Reentry Community, we provide bus passes to our members to help them with their reentry goals! While only a start, quick transportation allows our members to secure their most pressing needs after incarceration.
